The Welsh 3000's History
|
The Welsh 3000's is a route of 26 miles from the top of Snowdon to
Foel Fras, including some 13,000ft of ascent and fourteen summits
(fifteen if Garnedd Uchaf is counted).
High Trek complete the challenge over three days, taking around 8-9
hours for the Glyderau and Carneddau and 6-7 hrs for the Snowdon group.
This provides three good days mountain walking.
To complete the route within 24 hours walking requires an early start
and lots of stamina. Nobody knows who first completed the route,
probably one of the early Victorian mountaineers who were prodigious
walkers. The following table describes the recent history of running the
challenge.
