Cadair Idris and Views - What Views!
The week begins with everyone meeting here at our old
farmhouse, Tal y Waen. On Sunday morning we drive down to
Tal y Llyn ready to walk over
Cadair Idris (2928 ft) on the first day, crossing the
Mawddach estuary by footbridge to spend the night in the
seaside town of Barmouth
The Magnificent Wild Rhinogydd
The next day we begin the traverse of the loneliest
region of the park dominated by the rough Rhinog Fawr(2362
ft) and Rhinog Fach and the only place to stay is under
canvas! But don't worry, you don't have to carry any
extra - we'll have the tents ready erected and your
luggage waiting. After these rough days walking and your
night away from civilisation, it'll be time to pamper you
a bit in an old coaching inn in the attractive village of
Maentrwrog.

The Moelwynion and Cnicht - Wales' Matterhorn!
No time to linger! Wednesday morning sees your bags
stowed in the minibus again and we're off over Moelwyn
Mawr (2527 ft), Moelwyn Bach and Cnicht to spend the next
night in the pretty village of Beddgelert. This will once
again be a long - but rewarding - day.
Snowdon and the Glyderau
After ascending Snowdon (3560 ft) from the pretty
Nantgwynant valley and perhaps down along the knife edge
ridge of Crib Goch. Thursday night you'll be ensconced in
the Everest bar of the famous Pen y Gwryd hotel. Next day
it's up once more to enjoy the lunar-type landscape and
weird rock formations of Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach
followed by those other North Wales 3,000 footers of Y
Garn and Elidir Fawr. Finally you'll walk back into the
door of Tal y Waen to a warm welcome and a huge farmhouse
tea before the celebratory supper where you'll get your
well-earned certificate! |
