Work
has started in the last few weeks on raising the level of the Marchlyn
Mawr dam.
The 2 million pound project is scheduled to complete in October 2007,
and raise the dam height by 2.5 metres (and magically the water level by
3.5 metres).
The increased storage will provide an extra 1100MWh, a 12% increase in
capacity.
Fill material for the construction is to be sourced from the
nearby Marchlyn Quarry.
Access to the dam crest will be stopped during construction and diversions
to informal footpaths way-marked.
